FINA Airweave Swimming World Cup 2016

Sharon was a student reporter for an international swimming event, FINA Airweave Swimming World Cup in 2016. It was the 10th year the republic was hosting the event and Sharon had the privilege to interview Olympic swimmers like Chad Le Clos, Katina Hosszu and Kyle Chalmers.  She was able to work under pressure and deliver the article within an hour after the event.

Sharon was one of the student reporters from The Republican Post who covered Graduation 2017 in Republic Polytechnic. She was given the opportunity to do a feature story on one of the top graduands from the School of Infocomm, Nigel Gasper and this story talks about the challenges that Nigel faced and how he took them in stride.

Sharon had the opportunity to do a review piece on a social enterprise cafe, Crossings as part of one of her lesson in her M314 Feature Writing Module. She was given an 'A' grade for this review piece that she submitted.

‘I hold her hand every day and hope she will wake’

As it was nearing Valentines Day, Sharon wrote a feature article on two lovebirds, Chandru and Pooja for The Republican Post. In her article, she talks about how they were childhood sweethearts and how their love story took a twist when they were about to receive their second child, Ryan.

Temasek Foundation Scale (Vietnam) Photo Essay

As part of Temasek Foundation Scale III, Sharon was given the opportunity to lead a team of 4 to do media coverage for the outbound program in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam. During her two-week stay there, she did a photo essay on the main events that took place together with her team mate, Marcus Leong.

Temasek Foundation Scale Broadcast Video 

On March 2017, Sharon had the opportunity to go over to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam for two weeks and do media coverage for a service learning project involving RP's School of Applied Science students and Vietnam's University of Social Sciences and Humanities students. Their quest was to provide clean drinking water to the villagers at Da Phouc Commune and Sharon was the cameraman who documented that project.

 

National Parks (NParks) Broadcast Video

In the second year of her study in RP, Sharon had the opportunity to work in collaboration with NParks to produce a broadcast video for them. Sharon and her five other teammates were assigned Pulau Ubin to focus on.   Their story angle was, “Rediscovering Pulau Ubin”.  

The team worked over 2 weeks to complete the broadcast package and they were handpicked to present the video to the communications department of NParks.
